1771Charles Lucas, M.D., one of the representatives of Dublin city, and author of many political tracts, died. His statue was erected in the Royal Exchange. 
1772Charters granted to the governors of the Foundling Hospital, and Workhouse, and to the Grand Canal Com. 
1773Foundation of the new buildings for the Blue Coat Hospital, and of the New Gaol, Green-street, laid. St. John's Church, Fishamble-street, rebuilt. House of Industry, North Brunswick-street, opened. Act passed for a general pavement of the streets of Dublin. Penny Post-offiice opened for the city and environs within four miles. Meath Hospital appointed to be the county infirmary. Hibernian Marine School opened. 
1775Birmingham Tower, Dublin Castle, began to be rebuilt. Hibernian Marine Society incorporated. The foundation of the new Four Courts' Marshalsea, Island street, laid. 
1776First masquerade ball, at the Music Hall, Fishamble street. Foundations of the King's Inns buildings laid. 
1777By an account taken this year, the number of houses in Dublin and its suburbs was found to be 17,151, which, at an average of eight inhabitants to a house, gave a population of 137,208. 
1778The Charitable Musical Society, for lending small sums to industrious tradesmen, formed. Inundation of the Poddle river, which did much damage in the vicinity of St. Patrick's cathedral. The first regiment of Dublin volunteers, commanded by the Duke of Leinster, appeared in public under arms. 
1779Address to the king from both houses of Parliament for a free trade, which was granted. Royal Exchange opened. 
1780First Irish state lottery drawn at the Music Hall, Fishamble-street. Simpson's Hospital for the reception of poor, decayed, blind, and gouty men, incorporated. 
1781New Custom House began to be built.
